Chris Giggey has been practicing law for over 18 years in Eastern, Ontario. Chris commenced his legal career at a highly regarded, medium sized law firm in Ottawa, Ontario, practicing in the area of civil litigation.

Several years ago, he relocated to a smaller firm, where his wife was practicing, in the Township of South Dundas. He now enjoys practicing in Cornwall and the United Counties of S.D.&G., in the areas of family law, civil litigation, and real estate. Chris and Mathieu Despatie entered into a new partnership culminating in Giggey & Despatie LLP in 2022.

Mathieu Despatie
Partner

Mathieu Despatie began working at the Law Office of Giggey & Despatie LLP in 2016, originally as an articling student, and continued with the firm as an associate when he was called to the Bar in June 2017.  Mathieu and Chris Giggey entered into a new partnership culminating in Giggey & Despatie LLP in 2022.

Mathieu was born and grew up in Cornwall, Ontario. He obtained an Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences degree from the University of Ottawa in 2013 and a Law degree from Queen’s University in 2016. While attending Queen’s University for law school, Mathieu also obtained a Graduate Diploma in Business through the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University.

Mathieu practices in the areas of family law, civil litigation, real estate and business law.

Mathieu is also Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors for St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre.

Alexis MacLachlan
Lawyer

Alexis MacLachlan initially joined our law firm as a legal assistant in 2015. She thereafter attended law school at the University of Ottawa where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2023. She completed her articling with our firm and was called to the Bar in March 2024.

Throughout law school, Alexis was a peer mentor to two first-year students, a note-taker for students with accessibility needs, and a participant in the Walker Health Law moot. She was also awarded the Corbin Estates Law Prize for Excellence in Wills and the Law of Succession.

Previously, Alexis completed her undergraduate degree at McGill University, where she majored in Psychology and minored in Economics and Behavioural Science.

Since 2021, Alexis has served as a Director on the Board for BGC Cornwall/SD&G. She has also volunteered for the Walk for ALS and the Cornwall Triathlon.

Alexis was the 2023 recipient of the Pat V. Rudden Memorial Bursary from the Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Law Association.

Alexis practices in the areas of family law, civil litigation, real estate law, landlord & tenant law, as well as wills and estates.

Katie Durand
Legal Assistant

Katie graduated from the Algonquin College Paralegal program in 2014 and she is a proud member of the Law Society of Ontario. Katie has worked in a variety of different types of laws. Her main focus now is Family Law and Civil.

Katie brings both passion and compassion to her job and is always ready to assist a client through any situation that may arise.

Julie Boudreault
Legal Assistant

Since graduating from Paralegal and Law Clerk programs, Julie has found herself immersed in the legal field. She brings both compassion and knowledge of the official procedures and support required in the legal environment. She is skilled at communicating with clients on the phone and in person, with a priority on delivering exceptional customer service in every interaction. She is always ready to lend a listening ear to her clients and colleagues. In her free time, Julie enjoys travelling, boating on the St. Lawrence and spending time with her family & friends.
